Brief Curriculum Vitae

Miguel Coutinho is a PhD on Applied Environmental Sciences by the University of Aveiro in Portugal. He is the Secretary General of IDAD – Institute of Environment and Development. His main field of expertise is centred on atmospheric pollution and mesoscale meteorological modelling. He is the former President of APAI, the Portuguese affiliate of IAIA – the International Association for Impact Assessment. He is responsible for the coordination of several studies on environmental impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment and environmental monitoring:

The most important monitoring programs were developed for the control of waste–to–energy facilities built in Porto, Lisbon and Madeira and involve several environmental matrixes such as: air, soil, sediment, vegetables, dairy products, human milk and blood. These monitoring plans started in 2000–02 and continue until present;
Environmental monitoring of chemical complexes and refineries;
Air quality monitoring of airports.
