ENEA – Portici Research Center (UTTP–MDB)
UTT–MDB laboratory includes the intelligent sensing group that focus its research activities on intelligent distributed sensing. The primary application sector is chemical sensing relying on the capability to study, fabricate, characterize nanostructured chemical sensing, e–nose and wireless multisensor device design and development and multisensor device calibration. Computational intelligence technologies have been investigated and developed for multivariate calibration of indoor and outdoor air quality monitoring systems in real world on–the–field applications for the purpose of quantifying single pollutants in the complex city air pollution mixture. Adaptive calibration techniques based on semi supervised learning have been investigated in order to cope with long term stability, drift counteraction, mutual calibration and calibration transfer. GIS–DSS systems and gas distribution algorithms have been investigated and developed for 3D reconstruction and presentation of air quality parameters. UTTP–MDB have a long record of participation in FP7, JTI and national research programmes structuring a wide partnership with european major research and industry players in several application fields ranging from smart cities (air and water quality monitoring systems) to contamination detection for aerospace industry.
