Fundamental and applied research is carried out in engineering, mathematics, economics, decision sciences, energy systems, biotechnology, and social sciences.

The Department of Industrial Management & Technology, University of Piraeus maintains four Laboratories (Laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies & Testing, Laboratory of Simulation of Industrial Processes, Laboratory of Production Management Information Systems, SAP–Laboratory) that are used to carry out teaching, experimental work, and research.
